When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Isaltino Fonseca sped through Colombia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pedro Manzanares. Colombia's Kevin Mastache managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Egídio Gonçalves in the 30 minute of the game.
