Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elano Pimenta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 78th minute, Daniel Zorita fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Elano Pimenta, passed just outside the right post. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 84 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ermegildo Rolado came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lorenzo Clementi in the 91st minute of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Elano Pimenta made a huge save.
