Jacinto Cuadrado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 28th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jacinto Cuadrado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rainerio Obis had several of the Chile's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 30 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Thiago Pliego as he didn't even see the shot coming. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 37th minute, Francisco Carballar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 39th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jacinto Cuadrado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Merih Sikevich to maneuver through the defense. Jacinto Cuadrado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hitzeder Manrique in the 50th minute of play. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jacinto Cuadrado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 57th minute of the match Boca Juniors got a corner. Chile's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hitzeder Manrique ran over to the corner to take the kick. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Olaf Varela advanced and headed the ball into goal, 3-2 in the 57th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacinto Cuadrado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Orlando Casaus hit a great ball. Hitzeder Manrique struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Thiago Pliego didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Boca Juniors. In the 66th minute of the match, Mariano Lacasa got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jacinto Cuadrado was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Chile's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Mariano Lacasa in the 67th minute. Rolando Amorebieta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rolando Amorebieta scored 4-2 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Thiago Pliego, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Boca Juniors's zone, Mariano Lacasa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacinto Cuadrado came out of the goal and Mariano Lacasa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Gerardo Pozo hit a great ball. Jacinto Cuadrado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mariano Lacasa's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Jacinto Cuadrado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mariano Lacasa went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-3 was the resulting score. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Chile's Pedro Indiano got a free kick in the 94th minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Boca Juniors had won after a very even match.
