The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. In the 11th minute, Mihail Dumitras got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 12 played minutes BASEL FC got a freekick which was hit by Adam Dailey. Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, BASEL FC's Adam Dailey got a free kick in the 16th minute. After 20 minutes, Patricio Costa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the BASEL FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 20th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niculae Fărcășan in the 33rd minute of the match. Muchsin Maulana kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Baykal Acabey managed to get in a good position for a shot. BASEL FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Baykal Acabey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 42nd minute, Guillermo Mariano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Yaris Kusumadilaga shot a long shot in the 43rd minute and a light blocked Jonathan Ferrant hadn't a chance when the ball went into goal on his right side. It was 3-0. 46 minutes into the match, BASEL FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Nicanor Loiola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Baykal Acabey made a kick off. In the 51st match minute, BASEL FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adam Dailey to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baykal Acabey, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baykal Acabey in the 85th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Venezuela players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for BASEL FC.
