Ignacio Di Stasi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 19th minute, Alberto Tafalla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Domingues in the 23rd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ignacio Di Stasi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Alberto Tafalla hit a great ball. In the 34th minute Domingo Oihenarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Isótopos V.M.'s Crişan Fenomeno got a free kick in the 35th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Taribo West in the 42nd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ignacio Di Stasi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Facundo Cadaval, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. 44 minutes into the game, Kjetil-André Digernes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Isótopos V.M.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Ignacio Di Stasi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th minute, Albeiro Usuriaga left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Isótopos V.M. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Isótopos V.M.'s Gualterio Mede was substituted for Pedro Domingues. Mexico's Facundo Cadaval quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Domingo Oihenarte, made in the 62nd minute of the game. In the 67th minute, Albeiro Usuriaga ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albeiro Usuriaga in the 70th minute of the match. Gualterio Mede kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. The supporters of Mexico booed when Isótopos V.M. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Crişan Fenomeno didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albeiro Usuriaga in the 78th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 81 played minutes Isótopos V.M. got a freekick which was hit by Albeiro Usuriaga. 84 minutes into the match, Albeiro Usuriaga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Albeiro Usuriaga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2.
