In the 39th play minute Guillermo Fontirroig came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Vicente Inautzi. 3-0. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mariano Lacasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Vicente Inautzi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mariano Lacasa to strike the kick off in the second half. Francisco Carballar hit a great ball. Chile's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
