The MORPH fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Melquiades Mambru should have stopped the shot. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Anastasio Lluques, made in the 45th minute of the game. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. MORPH's Melquiades Mambru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 76th minute of play. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Eguen, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind MORPH's goalkeeper Melquiades Mambru, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Antonio Tenorio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Melquiades Mambru read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Alonso Berganza got a throw-in 93 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Eliseo Alcocer. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Peru walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
