The coaching staff of Ecuador protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Felix Montes had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ecuador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 13th minute. Penalty! Julio Vera had in the 15thth minute some difficulties stopping Su Xiang Sha's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Efrain Maria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Haroldo Abadie went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Gladiadores Legionarios's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Su Xiang Sha in the 29th minute. Agustín Saelices struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Efrain Maria didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sacit Refik, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 42nd minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The corner led Gladiadores Legionarios's Su Xiang Sha to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Efrain Maria made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Agustín Saelices sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Niklas Dalkvist in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. After 58 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Su Xiang Sha in the 58th minute of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Haroldo Abadie in the 65th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Gladiadores Legionarios's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Efrain Maria came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 72 minutes into the match, Gladiadores Legionarios's goalkeeper Efrain Maria had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Efrain Maria despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basilio Pepillo in the 75th minute of play. Luis Andino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Gladiadores Legionarios's Fabio Bernabel got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Daniel Zorita's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Efrain Maria - 2-1 was put on the score board in the 84th minute. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. In the 96th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense.
