When Fagildo Pamanes fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Consejo del Mate's protests and gave Fagildo Pamanes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 6th minute, Fagildo Pamanes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 7th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Orlando Gatti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felix Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Hugo Orlando Gatti didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Diego Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Hugo Orlando Gatti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 14th minute, Štefan Hlavica hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Peyo Fonelleda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Peyo Fonelleda in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. 22 minutes into the match, Consejo del Mate's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Hugo Orlando Gatti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Peyo Fonelleda in the 27th minute of the match. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

A throw-in in the 50th minute of the game was made by Camilo Gisbert with Diego Mancebo as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Consejo del Mate's Hugo Orlando Gatti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 56th minute of play. After 63 played minutes Consejo del Mate got a freekick which was hit by Hernan Quinton. When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Peyo Fonelleda put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. In the 69th minute, Peyo Fonelleda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 79th minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Consejo del Mate's Silverio Chan was substituted for Peyo Fonelleda. After 81 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. When Consejo del Mate's Silverio Chan in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. 87 minutes into the match, Consejo del Mate's goalkeeper Hugo Orlando Gatti had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Diego Mancebo. 89 minutes had been played when some careless play by Consejo del Mate's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Diego Mancebo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Hugo Orlando Gatti quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Diego Mancebo in the 89thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Hugo Orlando Gatti, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
