But to his dismay, Agustín Saelices quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 24 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Deportivo Pomelo Nenene's Hilario Ramos. Hilario Ramos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 29th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Hilario Ramos. Deportivo Pomelo Nenene's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Hilario Ramos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Juan Sebastián Puig got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 82nd minute of play forced Deportivo Pomelo Nenene's goalkeeper Hilario Ramos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hilario Ramos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador.
