After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Cyprien Auguste managed to get in a good position for a shot. R.C. Marseille's supporters rose to their feet, but Cyprien Auguste was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacobo Nores breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. R.C. Marseille's Cyrille Melon got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jacobo Nores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihail Toader, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Primitivo Escribano hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Mihail Toader received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 17 minutes into the game, R.C. Marseille's Cyrille Melon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacobo Nores made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Alan Campos hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. In the 20th minute, Cyrille Melon made a precise shot to the right of Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Mihail Toader struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Jacobo Nores didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for R.C. Marseille. R.C. Marseille's Cyrille Melon got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Cyrille Melon put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Jacobo Nores. Jacobo Nores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihail Toader, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute, Mihail Toader made a precise shot to the right of Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cyrille Melon, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After 39 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Paraguay! Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihail Toader in the 43rd minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime Pardo was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by Paraguay's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Renan Bouzat was slow to take the kick. During this time R.C. Marseille's players had a chance to rest. Mihail Toader recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to R.C. Marseille getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Mihail Toader hit a great ball. In the 64th minute of the match Cyprien Auguste shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jacobo Nores showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Mihail Toader kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jacobo Nores. That made the score 0-7 in the 65 minute of play. R.C. Marseille made a substitution. Djibril Mourot replaced Mihail Toader. R.C. Marseille's Djibril Mourot got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cyprien Auguste in the 73rd minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jaime Pardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 76 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cyrille Melon. 80 minutes into the match, Djibril Mourot dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jacobo Nores, 0-8. A collision led to Paraguay getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Raul Venegas hit a great ball. 87 minutes into the match, Cyrille Melon notched a goal, 0-9, to the right of Paraguay's Jacobo Nores. Jacobo Nores was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 91st minute, R.C. Marseille's Djibril Mourot ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jacobo Nores. Jacobo Nores yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-10. In the 96th minute, Djibril Mourot hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Paraguay fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. R.C. Marseille were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
