Gabríel Batistuta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. In the 34th minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toader Tinu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Yusuf Ziya Asya hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mateus Migolla in the 45th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gabríel Batistutas short, quick shot in the 47thth minute got Dante Lacasa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
