Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Puig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Orrenhof JK's Eedi Ott got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Hugo Ferrant got a free kick in the 86th minute. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Elmar Villand kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. If Eedi Ott had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Eedi Ott struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Orrenhof JK.
