A collision led to Academia FC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Uriel Isidor hit a great ball. Jaime Cazalla took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Angel Etxeberri. Academia FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Angel Etxeberri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 11th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 14th minute of play forced Academia FC's goalkeeper Angel Etxeberri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Academia FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustin Basso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Maximiliano Escribano in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Angel Etxeberri prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Angel Etxeberri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano in the 17th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Academia FC's Delmiro Quico got a free kick in the 19th minute. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Maximiliano Escribano put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Angel Etxeberri. In the 25th match minute, Academia FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Delmiro Quico to maneuver through the defense. Angel Etxeberri came out of the goal and Jaime Cazalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Angel Etxeberri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Gisbert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Angel Etxeberri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Gisbert in the 28th minute of play. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Academia FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Federico Nicholas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 32 minutes into the match, Academia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Seco came free, but Angel Etxeberri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Joaquin Gayoso managed to avoid a goal in the 37thth minute, when Academia FC's Jorge Martxot fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Academia FC's Angel Etxeberri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Seco in the 39th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Seco in the 41st minute of play forced Academia FC's goalkeeper Angel Etxeberri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Academia FC's zone, Maximiliano Escribano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angel Etxeberri came out of the goal and Maximiliano Escribano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Delmiro Quico in the 63 minute of the game. Angel Etxeberri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Gisbert in the 63rd minute of the match. Federico Nicholas hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Francisco Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Angel Etxeberri made a huge save. The corner led Uruguay's Jaime Cazalla to fire away a dangerous shot which Angel Etxeberri despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Angel Etxeberri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Gisbert in the 70th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Uruguay's Maximiliano Escribano slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Angel Etxeberri. That made the score 0-3 after 72 minutes of play. Francisco Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Angel Etxeberri made a huge save. After 78 played minutes Academia FC got a freekick which was hit by Fausto Argider. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Martxot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Uruguay's Angel Etxeberri threw himself towards the right post 88 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alberto Gisbert, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maximiliano Escribano got free with Angel Etxeberri in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Academia FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Uruguay were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
