In the 32nd minute, Sebastian Villa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edmundo Espiga in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rodriguinho Miranda saved Aston Villa F.C from getting behind. Lautaro Navarro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kajetan Wolniewicz in the 34th minute of play. Daniel Doherty charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daniel Doherty the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Daniel Doherty hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Lautaro Navarro was a little too slow when Kajetan Wolniewicz got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 41st minute. The score was now 1-0. In the 44th match minute, Aston Villa F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thorsten Schuhmacher to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Rodriguinho Miranda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Villa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kajetan Wolniewicz in the 66th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kajetan Wolniewicz in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lautaro Navarro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Aston Villa F.C booed when Honduras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Espinar didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 85th minute Aston Villa F.C were awarded a corner. Mário Corrêa went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to Aston Villa F.C's Daniel Doherty getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Many of Honduras's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Honduras may have spent more time on the ball, but Aston Villa F.C were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
