An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 9th minute of play forced Sabaneta FC's goalkeeper Kevin Mier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Masciarelli in the 11th minute of play. After 13 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Luca Zorita. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kevin Mier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Antonio Masciarelli sent off a good shot on target. 22 minutes into the match, Sabaneta FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Kevin Mier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 27th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kevin Mier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 29th minute, Firman Urquizu made a precise shot to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After some careless play in the Mexico defense, Cássio Correia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. The Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dante Lacasa should have stopped the shot. 41 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Rian Giggs came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

With an all-out effort, Mexico's Kevin Mier threw himself towards the right post 61 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luca Zorita, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Cássio Correia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. In the 65th minute, Firman Urquizu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Mexico booed when Sabaneta FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Firman Urquizu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kevin Mier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 70th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rian Giggs in the 72nd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kevin Mier was a little too slow when Facundo Cadaval got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 73rd minute. The score was now 2-1. Sabaneta FC's Kevin Mier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 76th minute of play. Kevin Mier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 81st minute of play. In the 82nd match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joel Gaona to maneuver through the defense. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stanislaw Cempa, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rian Giggs in the 88th minute of the match. Mexico were furious when Lorenzo Cazalla was red carded, 89 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Mexico fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 89th minute. Penalty! Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cássio Correia in the 93rd minute of the match. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rian Giggs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
