Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ermanno Zoff got the match started through his kick off. In the 10th minute, Aaron Alcocer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arrigo Antonini, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Feyli Ragazzi's Patricio Fillol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Axel Tasis in the 18th minute of play. The attack was good, but when Ermanno Zoff in the 22nd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 25th minute, Costa Rica's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ermanno Zoff fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Hugo Ferrant hit a great ball. Feyli Ragazzi's Ermanno Zoff got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Arrigo Antonini managed to get in a good position for a shot. Feyli Ragazzi's supporters rose to their feet, but Arrigo Antonini was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ermanno Zoff in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Adriano Fontana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hugo Ferrant's late challenge caught a Feyli Ragazzi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hugo Ferrant helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Feyli Ragazzi booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Ferrant didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Ermanno Zoff stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Ermanno Zoff tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 38th match minute, Feyli Ragazzi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bryan Cristante to maneuver through the defense. In the 47th minute of the game Juan Rubio made a throw-in which Aaron Alcocer played forward. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After 50 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Lautaro Puig. In the 51st minute of the match Attilio Colagrossi sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz skillfully saved the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bernardo Mandelli during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Bernardo Mandelli kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Feyli Ragazzi made a substitution. Angelo Marziali replaced Ermanno Zoff. Angelo Marziali recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Feyli Ragazzi getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Bryan Cristante hit a great ball. Arrigo Antonini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Angelo Marziali put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Benito Sanz. 95 minutes into the game, Davide Cerasoli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Feyli Ragazzi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. Costa Rica's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
