Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. Frontera AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Silvestre Cisco in the 17th minute. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Agustín Rossi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Frontera AFC defense, Alberto Tafalla kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Agustín Rossi. The Frontera AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Agustín Rossi should have stopped the shot. Agustín Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 31st minute of play. Naohiro Takahara made in the 36th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Mexico's Facundo Cadaval. In the 37th minute, Marcos Rojo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Agustín Rossi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Frontera AFC booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lorenzo Cazalla didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the last second Dante Lacasa throw himself and got hold of the ball when Naohiro Takahara in the 46thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Frontera AFC were awarded a corner in the 48th minute after Mexico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Silvestre Cisco took the corner. After the first half Mexico were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Naohiro Takahara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Frontera AFC's Agustín Rossi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 68th minute of play. Agustín Rossi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Alberto Tafalla came free with the goalkeeper in the 73rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Agustín Rossi could save by the left post.
