Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gürcan Okuyan made a kick off. 50 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Sandrinho Vasconcelos came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 54th minute by Luis Andino got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Jeremías Ledesma threw himself towards the right post 55 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cristian Sancho, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gürcan Okuyan, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. The audience was convinced that Gürcan Okuyan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gürcan Okuyan in the 69th minute of play. Cesare Motta hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gürcan Okuyan in the 88th minute of play. Eusebiu Nedelciu charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eusebiu Nedelciu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 91st minute, Eusebiu Nedelciu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Agustín Saelices kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jeremías Ledesma. That made the score 2-3 in the 94 minute of play. The Soliera fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
