Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Gentil Miranda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gentil Miranda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Pau Nas Canelas's 董真林 got a free kick in the 29th minute. Montrel Blazquez's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Montrel Blazquez helped the player get up and apologised. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Palmiro Picasso in the 39th minute. When Patricio Costa fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pau Nas Canelas's protests and gave Daniel Monsanto a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Pau Nas Canelas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Monsanto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pau Nas Canelas's Gentil Miranda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 64th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Palmiro Picasso's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Palmiro Picasso might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Palmiro Picasso ran back to his position shaking his head. 董真林 hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. When Pau Nas Canelas's Palmiro Picasso in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edinho Moraes couldn't finish the play. Palmiro Picasso scored 2-0 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 96 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Edinho Moraes came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Pau Nas Canelas fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
