Club Sportivo Italiano's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Felix Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 19th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rafael Martino was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafael Martino having to interfere. Rafael Martino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Rafael Martino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. This resulted in a 0-6 score and a disappointed Rafael Martino as he didn't even see the shot coming. Rafael Martino didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luis Andino went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-7 was the resulting score. 95 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rafael Martino. Cristian Sancho showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-8. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador played a much better game than Club Sportivo Italiano and deserved their victory. The Club Sportivo Italiano players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
