Dieguinho Paraíba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 56th minute of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Junior Shevchenko in the 62nd minute of the match. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dieguinho Paraíba read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The audience thought a goal was coming when Agustín Saelices got free with Dieguinho Paraíba in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador played a much better game than Manchester United FC and deserved their victory. The Manchester United FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
