But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Serginho Chulapa couldn't finish the play. Demonde Jacobson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serginho Chulapa in the 18th minute of the match. Javan Develder made in the 20th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Kordal Duff immediately put the ball in play. 23 minutes into the game, Javan Develder threw the ball into play from the sideline. The Evangel FC fans' excitement grew in the 36th match minute when Evangel FC's Serginho Chulapa looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 38 minutes into the game, Finlay Stair was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jamaica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Evangel FC the free kick. Finlay Stair hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Serginho Chulapa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Evangel FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Serginho Chulapa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Demonde Jacobson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Serginho Chulapa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Serginho Chulapa put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Demonde Jacobson. Demonde Jacobson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serginho Chulapa, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. With a little luck, Evangel FC's Zackary Sampson got control of the ball when Finlay Stair tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Finlay Stair to strike the kick off in the second half. Demonde Jacobson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serginho Chulapa in the 54th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Evangel FC's Terrence Perkins ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Demonde Jacobson. Demonde Jacobson yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6.
