Sune Rudberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of play. ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s Marcell Pécsi got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcell Pécsi in the 30th minute of play. After 32 minutes of play, ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s Marcell Pécsi made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The corner led ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s Alisson De Gasperi to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcell Pécsi in the 42nd minute. Agustín Saelices's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sune Rudberg read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Benito Laurin came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vito Amorim's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vito Amorim helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ecuador booed when ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vito Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 87th minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™:s goal. The excitement rose when ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s Rüknettin Aysan after 89 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for Ecuador's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 3-0. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Marcell Pécsi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. If Marcell Pécsi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
