Grant Cabezon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Zenon Suarez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zenon Suarez having to interfere. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute, Grant Cabezon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético de Sagunto fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Grant Cabezon in the 23rd minute of the match. Zenon Suarez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 26th minute of play. Zenon Suarez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Grant Cabezon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grant Cabezon in the 38th minute of play. After 46 minutes, Frances Mangas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético de Sagunto and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Asdrubal Prieto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Grant Cabezon in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 56th minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zenon Suarez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 61st minute of the match. When Atlético de Sagunto's Asdrubal Prieto in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. In the 66th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Atlético de Sagunto's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 68 minutes into the game, Atlético de Sagunto's Grant Cabezon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Zenon Suarez didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 89th minute, which inside left pole to 3-1. In the 93rdth minute of the game Asdrubal Prieto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Atlético de Sagunto were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
