Ubarna Harroyo kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. 9 minutes into the match, Cassius Byrne had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jan-Åke Emander. The Owls's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cassius Byrne was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Ubarna Harroyo struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Marco Day didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Owls. Jan-Åke Emander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassius Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in The Owls's zone, Cassius Byrne stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan-Åke Emander came out of the goal and Cassius Byrne tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gino Galante in the 43rd minute of play forced USA's goalkeeper Marco Day to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cassius Byrne to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Cassius Byrne ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jan-Åke Emander was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. In the 54th minute, Cassius Byrne left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net.
