The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mariano Eliu during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some careless play in the Metapalo FC defense, Francisco Seco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mario Pueblo. The Metapalo FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mario Pueblo should have stopped the shot. 20 minutes into the match, Metapalo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Maximiliano Escribano came free, but Mario Pueblo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 27th minute, Maximiliano Escribano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Uruguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Arturo Carvallo's late challenge caught a Metapalo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Metapalo FC's Mario Pueblo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Metapalo FC from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Francisco Seco got free with Mario Pueblo in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Francisco Seco was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Alberto Gisbert left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Mario Pueblo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. When the match clock showed 70 minutes, the score became 8-0 when Francisco Seco sped through Metapalo FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mario Pueblo. Mario Pueblo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 74th minute of play. Mario Pueblo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco Seco, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Uruguay had played much better football throughout.
