Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bálint Hellinger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to FC Budapest getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Botond Kutasi hit a great ball. In the 13th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bálint Hellinger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Miklós Fehér sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 1-0 became the score in the 21st minute when Botond Kutasi elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After a rather tough play, FC Budapest's Félix Kis got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 29th minute, János Holzhauser made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 32 minutes into the match, FC Budapest's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Bálint Hellinger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to FC Budapest getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Botond Kutasi hit a great ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Bálint Hellinger in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 56th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bálint Hellinger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 57 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Budapest's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Cristian Sancho almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but FC Budapest's Bálint Hellinger did a great save. In the 61st match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bálint Hellinger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 67th minute, Daniel Zorita hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Miklós Fehér in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bálint Hellinger having to interfere. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Botond Kutasi's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. In the 75th minute Botond Kutasi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miklós Fehér in the 77th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Miklós Fehér's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. The supporters of FC Budapest booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Miklós Fehér had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. FC Budapest were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
