Joaquim Vianna kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. A collision led to Phoenix Fc getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Afonsinho Costa hit a great ball. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th match minute, Phoenix Fc was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afonsinho Costa to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adhemar Teles to make the kick off. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
