In the 37th minute, Baturhan Oytun ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Iurie Chiriacescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Facundo Cadaval in the 41st minute of the match. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Iurie Chiriacescu quite easily take care of the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Baturhan Oytun made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baturhan Oytun in the 57th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baturhan Oytun in the 57th minute of play. PIAUÍ FC's Juninho Freitas was substituted for Baturhan Oytun. After 71 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Luca Zorita. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vladimir de Sena in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. PIAUÍ FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Renato Sá in the 73rd minute. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Mexico's goalie and right to Guga Trancoso. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Mexico's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. When Lautaro Mancebo came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Joel Gaona got a free kick in the 85th minute. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Iurie Chiriacescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juninho Freitas in the 90th minute of the match. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernandinho Mesquita in the 91st minute of play. The PIAUÍ FC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
