When Ronaldinho Romero came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Mexilhão F. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldinho Romero couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Mexilhão F. C. booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes in the game Anaia Barba after having made a beautiful turn got a great opportunity to score and fired away a shot that went just to the left past a relieved Jonathan Ferrant. A very good opportunity. In the 22nd minute, Arthur dos Santos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 23rd minute, Patricio Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Intxixu Porregimon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Intxixu Porregimon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 33rd minute of the match. Intxixu Porregimon came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Venezuela's Tomas Illescas. But to his dismay, Tomas Illescas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 35 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Intxixu Porregimon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Anaia Barba succeeded in the game's 36th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Intxixu Porregimon having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Joshua Secada got a free kick in the 40th minute. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Ronaldinho Romero sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anaia Barba in the 47th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Germano Pernambucano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Mexilhão F. C.'s Intxixu Porregimon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Mexilhão F. C. from getting a goal against them. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anaia Barba in the 58th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Germano Pernambucano in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 66 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mexilhão F. C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldinho Romero in the 71st minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anaia Barba in the 77th minute of play. 78 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Anaia Barba was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexilhão F. C.'s players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Mexilhão F. C.'s corner Anaia Barba fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jonathan Ferrant quite easily take care of the ball. Germano Pernambucano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Abel de Lara hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldinho Romero in the 96th minute of the match. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Mexilhão F. C. had played much better football throughout.
