Lima Team's Francisco Infante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. Felix Montes hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Francisco Infante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lima Team's Francisco Infante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play. In the 36th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Infante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Jacob Barroso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lima Team's supporters rose to their feet, but Jacob Barroso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After 50 minutes, Antonio Arias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the Lima Team players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Lima Team booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. 51 minutes into the match, Lima Team's Herberto Caiado broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Herberto Caiado struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lima Team. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herberto Caiado in the 55th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 58 minutes into the game, Horácio Sobral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lima Team's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Horácio Sobral kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Infante having to interfere. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
