Ricardinho Lopes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vlad Miniș in the 16th minute of play. Lautaro Mancebo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ricardinho Lopes firmly grabbed it by the left post. Rúben Prestes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Vlad Miniș stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Vlad Miniș tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vlad Minișs short, quick shot in the 57thth minute got Dante Lacasa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 60 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vlad Miniș. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardinho Lopes having to interfere. The referee felt a red card was in order, 64 minutes into the game, when Felix Luque put in a rough tackle. In the 64th minute, one of Mexico:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mexico. Alberto Tafalla struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Ricardinho Lopes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aquilino Ponte in the 69th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Tornadele Siret's Aquilino Ponte got a free kick in the 73rd minute. When Lautaro Mancebo came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vlad Miniș got free with Dante Lacasa in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 79 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Joel Gaona. When Lautaro Mancebo came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Aquilino Ponte tried to sneak it across the goal line.
