Joaquin Gayoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Curro Quevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francisco Seco in the 23rd minute. In the 24th minute, Gaizka Aballe left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Born To Win F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Curro Quevedo stood somewhat misplaced when Alberto Gisbert came free in front of goal and shot 1-2 to the left of him in the 28 minute. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaizka Aballe in the 34th minute of play. Born To Win F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gaizka Aballe in the 35th minute. In the 38th minute, Alberto Gisbert fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Curro Quevedo, passed just outside the right post. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert got a free kick in the 41st minute. If Rosario Vilanova had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 45 minutes, Rosario Vilanova mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Born To Win F.C. and the Uruguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Born To Win F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rosario Vilanova didn't get a good kick on the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gaizka Aballe made a kick off. A collision led to Born To Win F.C. getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Fresco Pais hit a great ball. When Born To Win F.C.'s Gaizka Aballe in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 83rd minute Gaizka Aballe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chants of Born To Win F.C. echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Uruguay had held the ball for most of the match.
