Doctor Paredes kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Cassius Byrne took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 3rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Florentino Herauso. Santa Lucia de Merlo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Florentino Herauso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cassius Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 25th minute of play forced Santa Lucia de Merlo's goalkeeper Florentino Herauso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute of the match USA got a corner. Santa Lucia de Merlo's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Despite this Florentino Herauso quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. USA were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after Santa Lucia de Merlo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cassius Byrne took the corner. Edward Mcdonald was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 37 minutes into the match, Santa Lucia de Merlo's Pascal Som sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marco Day narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind USA's goalkeeper Marco Day, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Florentino Herauso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Rogers in the 43rd minute of play. Florentino Herauso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Cassius Byrne made the kick off in the second half. Florentino Herauso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Florentino Herauso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Monty Rogers in the 56th minute. If Monty Rogers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Santa Lucia de Merlo's Pascal Som quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Diego Bradley, made in the 61st minute of the game. Polo Quinteros took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marco Day. Marco Day dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After 75 minutes Santa Lucia de Merlo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Monty Rogers who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Sam Campbell almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Santa Lucia de Merlo's Florentino Herauso did a great save. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Sam Campbell put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Florentino Herauso. Santa Lucia de Merlo's Levan Poggenborg got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. USA's Khalid Parry was substituted for Monty Rogers. Diego Bradley hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Levan Poggenborg in the 86th minute of play forced USA's goalkeeper Marco Day to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santa Lucia de Merlo's Florentino Herauso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Santa Lucia de Merlo from getting a goal against them. After 88 played minutes USA got a freekick which was hit by Jenson Smith. Hernan Louis hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Sam Campbell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Florentino Herauso having to interfere. Santa Lucia de Merlo's Florentino Herauso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Santa Lucia de Merlo from getting a goal against them. USA's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
