In the 5th match minute, Lipovljani was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viggo Bruse to maneuver through the defense. 5 minutes into the match, Lipovljani's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Gabrijel Jovanovski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sima Marinković, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gabrijel Jovanovski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 20th minute of the match. After 21 played minutes Lipovljani got a freekick which was hit by Kevin De Bruyne. 24 minutes into the game, Lautaro Mancebo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Gabrijel Jovanovski was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Kevin De Bruyne scored 2-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dante Lacasa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gabrijel Jovanovski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Facundo Cadaval, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the match, Mexico's Joel Gaona sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gabrijel Jovanovski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dante Lacasa acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 42nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Axel Witsel. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Lipovljani's Egon Škare was substituted for Valter Vidulić. Lipovljani's Arsen Vukša was substituted for Nikifor Kulaksúzov. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cvjetko Štokić might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dante Lacasa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cvjetko Štokić ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 58th minute, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gabrijel Jovanovski. Gabrijel Jovanovski yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Lipovljani's goalkeeper Gabrijel Jovanovski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Egon Škare fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lipovljani's protests and gave Egon Škare a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Lipovljani's goalkeeper Gabrijel Jovanovski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Facundo Cadaval scored 2-3 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gabrijel Jovanovski, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Lipovljani defense, Luca Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gabrijel Jovanovski. The Lipovljani fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gabrijel Jovanovski should have stopped the shot. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cvjetko Štokić in the 74th minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Arsen Vukša hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th minute, Axel Witsel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lipovljani's Gabrijel Jovanovski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Lipovljani from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Joel Gaona took a quick shot and it went in 2-5 without a chance for Gabrijel Jovanovski to make any attempt to save it. In the 82nd match minute, Lipovljani was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vincent Kompany to maneuver through the defense. Lipovljani's attentive Jadranko Mamlić managed to snatch the ball when Leonardo Leoz made a throw-in in the 84th minute of the game. A throw-in in the 87th minute of the game was made by Leonardo Leoz with Lautaro Mancebo as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Gabrijel Jovanovski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 89th minute of play. Renato Vince kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Mexico's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
