When Fecha Libre's Teo Mouricio, in the 2nd minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Fecha Libre. With an all-out effort, Fecha Libre's Marco Day threw himself towards the right post 11 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Teo Mouricio, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 12 minutes USA's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gavino Hodei who took care of the corner kick. After 16 minutes of play, USA's Cassius Byrne made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emiliano Martínez was left in no man's land by his defense there! Martins Palermo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martins Palermo in the 32nd minute of play forced USA's goalkeeper Marco Day to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Martins Palermo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fecha Libre's supporters rose to their feet, but Martins Palermo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marco Day breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 44thth minute of the game Kamiel Stessel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but USA's Marco Day was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Martins Palermo took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marco Day. Marco Day dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. If Kamiel Stessel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 61st minute of play forced Fecha Libre's goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Day showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martins Palermo in the 62nd minute of the match. Cassius Byrne in the 67thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Emiliano Martínez, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
