The supporters of The Globo Red booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Caco Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caco Moura in the 72nd minute of play. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 75thth minute tested the skills of Don Bray when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After having played for 77 minutes, Will Budden managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Globo Red's supporters crossed their fingers, but Will Budden was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Cristian Sancho took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Don Bray to make any attempt to save it. When Caco Moura came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the The Globo Red fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caco Moura couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute, Dominik Webb hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caco Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
