Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Isidoro Beltran made the kick off which started today's match. Pepe Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. 6 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Pepe Santoro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Isidoro Beltran could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. 15 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Luis Andino sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pepe Santoro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 20 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Pepe Santoro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Isidoro Beltran in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 30th minute Jorg Pieters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sören Bengtsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorg Pieters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pepe Santoro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pepe Santoro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The Independiente players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. With a little luck, Independiente's Pepe Santoro got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. The corner led to Ecuador's Luis Andino getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Florentino Inge hit a great ball. Pepe Santoro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sören Bengtsson in the 58th minute of play. Felix Montes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Pepe Santoro made a huge save. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pepe Santoro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Pepe Santoro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 63rd minute. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 66th minute after Independiente's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pepe Santoro came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Isidoro Beltran's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. With his leg Pepe Santoro managed to avoid a goal in the 85thth minute, when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 92 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Independiente throughout the match.
