Thanks to some nice moves David Coutinho could shoot a difficult shot in the 5th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Emerson Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 13th minute, Agustín Saelices ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Emerson Leão was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Stanislaw Turacki hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Emerson Leão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of the match. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when David Coutinho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Emerson Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, São Paulo Leste F.C.'s David Coutinho got a free kick in the 24th minute. Emerson Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, David Coutinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. São Paulo Leste F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but David Coutinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. David Coutinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emerson Leão having to interfere. After 43 played minutes São Paulo Leste F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Leendert Looze.

In the 50th minute, Stanislaw Turacki got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, São Paulo Leste F.C.'s Emerson Leão got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cristian Sancho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 87thth minute tested the skills of Emerson Leão when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Daniel Zorita during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Daniel Zorita hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. In the 90th minute of the match David Coutinho sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
