The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joaquin Gayoso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Algarrobo's Niguel Pasten got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Everardo Ado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 34th minute of play. Uruguay were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after Algarrobo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jaime Cazalla took the corner. Rafael Nadal struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Joaquin Gayoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Algarrobo. Camilo Covarrubias was shown his second yellow card after 45 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Camilo Covarrubias kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

54 minutes into the match, Algarrobo's goalkeeper Everardo Ado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. Algarrobo's Jimeno Carrera was substituted for Edmundo Cañas. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jimeno Carrera in the 59th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, Algarrobo could leave the field as winners, despite Uruguay having more of the ball for most of the match.
