Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Börje Örtendahl in the 94th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Börje Örtendahl in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Oiteiras.
