After the first half Jucuitiba were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Jucuitiba's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Doriva Figueiredo came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Michel Agüero in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. 59 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Michel Agüero. 60 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luiz Guilherme Romero was slow to take the kick. During this time Jucuitiba's players had a chance to rest. Luiz Guilherme Romero made a great header on Jucuitiba's corner, it was just that Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 75th minute, Rigoberto Mina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 78th minute Luiz Guilherme Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Doriva Figueiredo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredão Gomes in the 86th minute of play. Jucuitiba played a much better game than Venezuela and deserved their victory. The Venezuela players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
