The coaching staff of Venezuela protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Rigoberto Mina had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 10 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Ragnar Vennersten came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bo Hake succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 17th playminute.
