After 4 played minutes Åsnes got a freekick which was hit by Kenneth Leidland. Tomas Berganza struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Christer Waaler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. In the 8th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isidoro Sarmiento to maneuver through the defense. Kristian Sandersen's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Marcos Cotilla firmly grabbed it by the left post. 13 minutes into the match, Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Morten Hestad. Panama's Marcos Cotilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Panama from getting a goal against them. Tomas Berganza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Christer Waaler read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Berganza made a kick off. Christer Waaler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Berganza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 61 minutes of play, Panama's Abraham Alguacil made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christer Waaler was left in no man's land by his defense there! Panama's Tomas Berganza got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jose Carita in the 70th minute of play forced Åsnes's goalkeeper Christer Waaler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 71 minutes Åsnes's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Abraham Alguacil who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Abraham Alguacil got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Christer Waaler quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After having played for 74 minutes, Morten Hestad managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Åsnes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Morten Hestad was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcos Cotilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rune Gjessing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Kristian Sandersen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Åsnes's supporters rose to their feet, but Kristian Sandersen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcos Cotilla breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 94th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Panama fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4.
