An unexpectedly hard shot by Santino Seco in the 22nd minute of play forced FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goalkeeper Zafer Hürsel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Colombia from getting a goal against them. FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's Zafer Hürsel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abram Sarmiento in the 26th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abram Sarmiento in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zafer Hürsel saved FC Zenit Saint Petersburg from getting behind. In the 35th minute Emanuel Emander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Manzanares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th minute of the match, Håkan Kjellman got a very nice opportunity to score, but Pedro Manzanares was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Abram Sarmiento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Zafer Hürsel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abram Sarmiento in the 62nd minute of play. When Hami Çerağ fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's protests and gave Hami Çerağ a yellow card for diving instead. After 65 played minutes FC Zenit Saint Petersburg got a freekick which was hit by Hami Çerağ. Colombia made a substitution. Abram Secada replaced Axel Montenegro. In the 72nd minute of the match Colombia got a corner. FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Kevin Mastache ran over to the corner to take the kick. Zafer Hürsel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ignacio Mastache in the 73rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Johannes Botvidsson in the 77th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 79th minute, Emanuel Emander hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
