Mauro Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute of the match. Mauro Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. In the 12th minute, Barnaba Blochowiak ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 15th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mauro Esteves was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 19th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauro Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Barnaba Blochowiak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Daniel Zorita sped through Brokopondo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mauro Esteves. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mauro Esteves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mauro Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Stefan Bejrut tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 52 played minutes Brokopondo got a freekick which was hit by Sebastian Bialakowski. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stefan Bejrut in the 56th minute of play. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Stefan Bejrut kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Brokopondo made a substitution. 정 남 replaced Stefan Bejrut. Brokopondo made a substitution. After 69 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. In the 71st minute, Felix Montes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 71st minute, 정 남 made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. The corner ended in Barnaba Blochowiak almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by 정 남 in the 93rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Mauro Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Brokopondo's Sebastian Bialakowski got a free kick in the 97th minute. Mauro Esteves was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 98th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Daniel Zorita. When the referee blew the final whistle, Brokopondo could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
