Maximiliano Iigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Lei Feng Ying stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Lei Feng Ying tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 13th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. ★Independiente Ψ★'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Jay-Jay Okocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gabriel-Omar Batista went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 19 minutes into the game, Lei Feng Ying cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gabriel-Omar Batista got free with Julio Vera in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 26 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jay-Jay Okocha was slow to take the kick. During this time ★Independiente Ψ★'s players had a chance to rest. Gabriel-Omar Batista could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. In the 36th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maximiliano Iigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as ★Independiente Ψ★'s Gabriel-Omar Batista slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. 96 minutes into the game, Falcão Botelho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ★Independiente Ψ★'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick.
