In the 7th minute, Alcino Jesus fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jonathan Ferrant, passed just outside the right post. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Gonçalo Quaresma's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gonçalo Quaresma helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th minute, Gonçalo Quaresma hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Carmo having to interfere. The supporters of Ponte do Carro booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. André Carmo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Ponte do Carro's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but André Carmo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Simão Boaventura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Alex Chicote got a free kick in the 44th minute. Palmiro Leite struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ponte do Carro. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alcino Jesus made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Palmiro Leite came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute, Palmiro Leite ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ponte do Carro's goalkeeper André Carmo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Patricio Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Ponte do Carro's André Carmo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 76th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Loukianos Livas during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Loukianos Livas hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. In the 79th match minute, Ponte do Carro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Loukianos Livas to maneuver through the defense. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. Simão Boaventura scored 2-0 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 91 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Ponte do Carro had won after a very even match.
