The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Tasso FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Silverio Corderun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 6 played minutes Tasso FC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Antunes. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 10th minute of play forced Tasso FC's goalkeeper Silverio Corderun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the match, Tasso FC's Waldir Urbano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waldir Urbano in the 26th minute of play. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Silverio Corderun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 32nd minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 36th minute, when Waldir Urbano scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-0. Silverio Corderun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 40th minute of the match. When Primitivo Andino fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Primitivo Andino a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daniel Zorita the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Waldir Urbano made a kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Severi Nybacka came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute Waldir Urbano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Tasso FC's Silverio Corderun got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 66th minute after Tasso FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. In the 68th minute Felix Montes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silverio Corderun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Silverio Corderun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tasso FC's Juca Tasso was substituted for Miguel Sequeira. Berkin Dilsafa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 75th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Tasso FC made a substitution. Pinto Valer replaced Caio Mendes. 83 minutes had been played when some careless play by Tasso FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Felix Montes made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Tasso FC's Silverio Corderun managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 84th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Tasso FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Silverio Corderun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 85th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Silverio Corderun made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Silverio Corderun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 91 minutes into the match, Tasso FC's Normando Fiúza sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Normando Fiúza took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Silverio Corderun. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. The Tasso FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
